WellMed, a part of the Optum family, is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Nocturnist Hospitalist to enhance our healthcare services. Optum is a clinician-led organization committed to transforming the healthcare landscape.

As a vital member of the Optum Care Delivery team, you will contribute significantly to our mission of improving healthcare for all.

Position Highlights:

  • Lead a collaborative and comprehensive healthcare team as a hospitalist.
  • Work a schedule of 7 nights on and 7 nights off.
  • Manage crossover calls, emergency room admissions, and patient transfers during night shifts.
  • Care for patients exclusively from a single payer system.
  • All patients will have a WellMed primary care provider.
  • Focus on quality care with a typical patient load of 10 to 13 patients per night.
  • Work primarily with geriatric patients who have Medicare Advantage coverage.
  • Performance metrics are heavily based on quality of care.

Compensation and Benefits Overview:

  • Competitive base salary with an annual quality incentive target of $15,000.

Required Qualifications:

  • Certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Current licensure from the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners or as a Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas State Medical Board.
  • Valid DEA license.
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Comfortable managing a primarily Medicare-aged patient demographic.
  • Ability to work 12-hour night shifts regularly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Understanding and support of a managed care environment.
