Job Summary

The University of Miami seeks a highly skilled Reference/Foreign and International Law Librarian to join its team. This is a full-time faculty position that requires a strong background in law librarianship, foreign languages, and teaching.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reference Services: Provide expert reference assistance to law students, faculty, and the public at a centrally located reference desk.
  • Research Support: Conduct complex research for faculty and administration, and develop educational research tools such as guides and video tutorials.
  • Teaching and Instruction: Teach legal research courses, workshops, and instructional sessions, and provide leadership in the development of the law library's foreign and international collections.
  • Collection Development: Evaluate and select comparative, foreign, and international materials in all formats, and update collection development and acquisitions procedures and policies.
  • Training and Outreach: Coordinate library training and outreach to law school classes, clinics, and other groups focused on foreign and international law.
Requirements
  • Education: MLS (or equivalent) and J.D. (or foreign equivalent) from accredited institutions.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience, with fluency in Spanish required and working knowledge of other foreign languages desirable.
  • Skills: Excellent organizational and teaching skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong service philosophy, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
