Position Summary

Yabu Pushelberg is on the lookout for a skilled and enthusiastic individual with a keen eye for aesthetics and meticulous attention to detail. This position will be part of a dynamic Interiors/Styling team that encompasses various types of projects, particularly in private residential design and styling for both residential and hospitality settings. This team is often referred to as our "style department." While the projects vary in nature and service, they are unified by a style-centric approach to design.

Key Responsibilities

The Interior Stylist will play a crucial role in enhancing Interiors projects by:

  • Developing conceptual imagery and narratives
  • Creating accessory, floral, and greenery concepts
  • Selecting appropriate accessories
  • Conducting spatial planning
  • Performing elevation studies using CAD and Photoshop
  • Designing and developing custom accessories and OS&E
  • Coordinating and communicating with vendors and contractors
  • Managing project budgets
  • Executing final on-site styling and staging for hospitality and residential projects
Candidate Profile

This role is distinct from traditional interior design positions and requires innovative thinking. The ideal candidate will have a background as a seasoned Stylist eager to shift from conventional design processes to a narrative-driven design approach that emphasizes style. A typical week may involve curating imagery for high-end resort styling, developing allocation plans and elevation studies for expansive residences, and sourcing unique artisan objects for hotel styling.

In addition to the core responsibilities, the selected individual will be expected to manage the styling aspects of projects and maintain ongoing communication with vendors. Under the guidance of the Design Teams, the individual must comprehend client and operator requests and translate them into high-caliber designs that reflect the Yabu Pushelberg standard.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in a relevant Design field such as Interior Styling, Interior Decorating, Interior Design, Fashion Design, Visual Merchandising, or Fine Arts
  • Experience in Landscaping, Floristry, Art Curation, Ceramics, or Painting
  • 1-2 years of experience in Interior Styling and/or Accessorizing
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Familiarity with 3D software like Sketchup is a plus
  • Understanding of the Interior Design industry
  • Able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to high-quality work and attention to detail
  • Located in NYC or able to work from the NYC studio
