About the Role

IA Interior Architects is seeking a highly skilled Project Architect to join our New York City studio. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing design support in project administration, design development, and contract documents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Creates contract documents (CDs) and reviews them to ensure compliance with firm standards, mechanical, building systems, codes, and ADA requirements.
  • Coordinates with senior technical staff and design staff to provide technical solutions for design dilemmas.
  • Manages project through the contract administration phase and coordinates engineering consultants' work to ensure compliance with design solutions and timely submission of documents.
  • Manages contract administration budget for assigned projects and ensures adherence to set budget, immediately informing senior job captains, architects, project managers, and clients of any potential variances.
  • Mentors junior and immediate designers, overseeing tasks and providing feedback on work product.
  • Conducts client interviews to determine technical requirements for the design.
Requirements
  • Graduate of architecture school or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience with interiors projects, preferably in corporate workplace and hospitality design.
  • 8+ years of experience in interior design projects.

  • Intermediate documentation and field observational skills.
  • Advanced retail/interior architecture detailing skills.
  • Working knowledge of CDs and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of building systems, codes, and ADA requirements.
  • Working knowledge of space requirements.
  • Working knowledge of contract administration.
  • Intermediate MS Office Suite skills.
  • Advanced Revit skills.
  • Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills.
  • Affinity Program skills or equivalent.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate presentation and graphic communication skills.
