About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Lines Underwriting Assistant to join our team at Frank Winston Crum Insurance. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our underwriting processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine pricing and risk selection within your authority level.
  • Process accurate work items received from agents, customers, and service providers.
  • Order inspections reports and send out recommendation letters.
  • Issue notices such as Nonrenewal, Cancellation, and Reinstatements.
  • Follow up with agents for outstanding requirements.
  • Research and review databases, reports, policy information, and other online sources to perform required tasks.
  • Process and service new and renewal business within your authority level.
  • Process change requests for coverage modifications, updates to policy, and process cancellations within your authority level and as instructed.
  • Participate in project work, including research, policy clean-up, and project quality review.
  • Participate in system testing related to underwriting.
  • Assist with agency and customer communications via email and other approved methods of communication.
  • Update policies as approved by Underwriting.
  • Stay abreast of changing department procedures and processes.
  • Use current systems effectively and follow set procedures.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as data entry, document management, and file maintenance, as directed by your supervisor.
  • Maintain department quality standards by assisting your team to achieve service/quality levels and targets.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry of policy files.
  • Monitor your email box for communications from agents and customers.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a working knowledge of various lines of business and insurance coverages. Knowledge of commercial casualty underwriting practices is preferred. A minimum of one year's prior experience in commercial insurance, including agency and/or underwriting, and a high school diploma or equivalent are required.
