POSITION SUMMARY:

The Driver & Building Maintenance Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective operation and upkeep of the organization's vehicles, while also addressing maintenance requirements within the facility. This position involves transporting participants, staff, and volunteers along designated routes, prioritizing their safety throughout the journey. Additionally, the manager is responsible for maintaining accurate logs, completing necessary paperwork, and scheduling routine inspections and maintenance for the vehicles.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Operates agency-approved vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.
  2. Adheres to all traffic regulations and safety protocols.
  3. Assists participants in boarding and disembarking the vehicle, utilizing ramps as needed.
  4. Plans and executes efficient transportation routes.
  5. Takes responsibility for the care and maintenance of the vehicle.
  6. Communicates any vehicle maintenance needs to the appropriate management personnel.
  7. Implements rules consistently and addresses disciplinary matters with fairness.
  8. Responds promptly and effectively to emergencies and accidents, following established procedures.
  9. Submits daily reports and logs to the administrative office.
  10. Assists with various maintenance tasks around the facility to ensure a safe environment, including cleaning and organizing.
  11. Participates in staff training sessions and meetings.
  12. Maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders, including employees, participants, and volunteers.
  13. Ensures confidentiality of sensitive information related to participants and the organization.
  14. Demonstrates sound judgment and effective communication with all parties involved.
  15. Manages inventory and security of equipment, collaborating with staff for necessary purchases.
  16. Utilizes a mobile phone in compliance with local regulations.
  17. Promotes a clean and safe working environment, including vehicle cleanliness.
  18. Reports any issues or changes in schedule to the designated coordinator.
  19. Addresses participant behavioral concerns as necessary.
  20. Embodies the core values and mission of TRI-TOWN YMCA.
  21. Performs additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum age of 18 years.
  2. Possession of a valid State of Illinois driver's license.
  3. Maintains a clean driving record.
  4. Previous experience in bus driving is advantageous.
  5. Familiarity with safe driving practices and the Illinois Motor Vehicle Code.
  6. Must obtain First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications by the start of employment.
  7. Completion of DCFS Mandated Reporter certification within the first week of employment.
  8. Successful completion of a criminal background check prior to employment.
  9. Ability to read, write, and organize materials in English.
  10. Capable of supervising participants with a strong focus on safety.
  11. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

The Driver may spend extended periods inside a vehicle and must be able to lift, turn, and carry up to 50 pounds. This role may require working in various weather conditions. Vision must be 20/20 or corrected to that standard, and the individual must be able to communicate effectively.
