Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and direct radioactive material transportation activities between ORNL nuclear and radiological facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable ORNL, DOT, and safety basis requirements.
  • Generate, review, and maintain records related to radioactive material transportation activities.
  • Act as nuclear facility manager for the radioactive material in transport.
  • Interface with shipping and receiving facilities to ensure safe and compliant transportation activities.
  • Provide programmatic direction and funding to meet research customer needs for radioactive material transportation.
  • Deliver ORNL's mission by aligning behaviors, priorities, and interactions with our core values of Impact, Integrity, Teamwork, Safety, and Service.

Requirements:

  • BS Degree with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience in an engineering field or related science.
  • Qualified candidates must have a minimum of four years of nuclear experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department Of Energy Q Level Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DOE Q Clearance.
  • Familiarity with ORNL radiological and nuclear facilities and commercially available radioactive material transportation shipping containers.
  • Department of Transportation regulation knowledge.
