Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of the Program Director, the Transportation and Facility Operations Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the functionality and upkeep of the organization's vehicles. This role also encompasses addressing maintenance requirements within the facility. The individual will be responsible for safely transporting participants, staff, and volunteers along designated routes, ensuring their safety during transit. Additionally, the supervisor will manage all necessary documentation, including logs and scheduled maintenance checks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Operates the organization's vehicles for which they are authorized.
  2. Adheres to all traffic regulations.
  3. Assists in loading and unloading participants from the vehicle, utilizing stairs or wheelchair ramps as needed.
  4. Plans and organizes required travel routes.
  5. Takes responsibility for the care of the vehicle and any equipment used.
  6. Reports vehicle maintenance requirements to the Program Director, Operations Manager, or CEO.
  7. Implements rules consistently and fairly.
  8. Handles disciplinary matters with professionalism and respect.
  9. Responds promptly and effectively to emergencies and accidents, following established protocols.
  10. Submits daily reports and logs to the administrative office.
  11. Performs maintenance tasks around the facility to ensure a safe environment, which may include cleaning, moving furniture, and sanitizing surfaces.
  12. Participates in staff training sessions and meetings.
  13. Maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders, including employees, participants, parents, vendors, and volunteers.
  14. Ensures confidentiality of participant and organizational information.
  15. Demonstrates sound judgment and communicates effectively with all parties involved.
  16. Manages inventory and security of equipment and collaborates with staff for procurement as per budgetary guidelines.
  17. Utilizes a mobile phone in compliance with state and local regulations.
  18. Promotes a clean and safe working environment, including exterior vehicle maintenance when necessary.
  19. Communicates issues, concerns, and schedule changes to the Program Curriculum Coordinator.
  20. Reports participant behavioral or disciplinary issues to the Program Curriculum Coordinator.
  21. Embodies and supports the core values and mission of TRI-TOWN YOUNG MEN'S CHRI.
  22. Performs additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be at least 18 years old.
  2. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Illinois driver's license.
  3. Must have a clean driving record.
  4. Previous experience in bus driving is advantageous.
  5. Familiarity with safe driving practices and the Illinois Motor Vehicle Code is required.
  6. Must obtain First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications by the first day of employment.
  7. Must complete DCFS Mandated Reporter certification within the first week of employment.
  8. Must pass a criminal background check prior to employment commencement.
  9. Must be able to read, write, and organize materials in English.
  10. Must be capable of supervising participants with a strong emphasis on safety.
  11. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with teams is essential.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

The Transportation Supervisor may spend extended periods inside a vehicle. The individual must be able to lift, turn, and carry up to 50 pounds over a distance of 10 feet, placing the load on shelves at chest height. The role may require working in various weather conditions, including heat and rain. Vision must be 20/20 or corrected to 20/20, and the individual must possess the ability to talk, taste, smell, and see both near and far.
