Key Responsibilities

The Clinical Nursing Manager oversees the daily operations of a patient care department, which includes:

  • Forecasting and ensuring adequate staffing levels.
  • Taking departmental calls and planning for continuity of care.
  • Serving in a charge nurse capacity and providing direct patient care as required.

Collaboration is essential; you will work closely with physicians, management team members, business partners, and clients to achieve strategic initiatives and organizational objectives.

Engagement in a systematic, interdisciplinary evaluation of programs is vital, focusing on process improvement and desired client-centered outcomes.

Consideration of the diverse needs of each patient throughout their care continuum is paramount, ensuring the highest level of service according to established standards and optimizing the patient experience.

Staff Management

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring adequate scheduling and staffing.
  • Recruiting, retaining, and developing nursing staff.
  • Providing performance feedback and addressing issues as necessary.
  • Contributing to staff performance reviews in a timely and effective manner.

Compliance with all regulatory standards and nursing board requirements is essential. You will ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to policies, procedures, and budgetary specifications.

Professional Development

Promoting individual professional growth and development is a key aspect of this role. You will meet requirements for mandatory continuing education and skills competency, supporting department-based goals that contribute to the organization's success. Additionally, you will serve as a mentor and resource for less experienced staff.

Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor of Nursing degree from an accredited institution is required. For clinical manager roles pursuing Magnet designation, a Bachelor of Nursing is mandatory at the time of hire or promotion.

Licenses/Certifications: A current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing is required, along with certification in Basic Life Support. Professional certification in a clinical area or management is preferred, and additional certifications may be required based on specific discipline and nursing unit needs.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills: A minimum of three years of experience in a clinical area, specifically in Endoscopy and Gastrointestinal settings, along with at least one year in a supervisory or management role is necessary. For Clinical Manager II positions, an additional two years of experience is required, totaling three years in a supervisory or management capacity.
