Position Overview

This role involves the design and execution of NIH-funded research initiatives focused on the influence of transcription factor networks in guiding the differentiation of stem and induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells towards mesodermal lineages, including cardiac, endothelial, and skeletal muscle cells. The research will also delve into the transcriptional regulation mechanisms governing cardiac progenitors and myogenic stem cells.

Research Contributions

Notable publications from the lab include significant studies such as the generation of human endothelial cells in genetically modified pig embryos and the exploration of stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes in the context of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy cardiomyopathy. These contributions underscore the lab's commitment to advancing the field of cardiac regeneration.

Collaboration and Communication

The successful candidate will collaborate with fellow scientists and external research partners in the conceptualization, execution, and evaluation of experiments. Responsibilities will also include drafting manuscripts for scientific journals and presenting findings at academic conferences.

Documentation and Analysis

Thorough documentation of experimental procedures and data analysis is expected. This includes writing comprehensive reports on research outcomes and engaging in discussions with laboratory colleagues and the Principal Investigator regarding ongoing projects and potential new experimental strategies.

Qualifications

Required: A Ph.D. or equivalent in neurobiology, microbiology, cell biology, immunology, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of one year of research experience.

Preferred: Candidates with proven experience in developing scientific protocols and strong scientific writing skills will be prioritized. Strong letters of recommendation are encouraged.
