Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fiber Optic Network Technician to join our team at TDS Telecom. As a key member of our Outside Plant Construction team, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining fiber optic networks in various locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain fiber optic cables and equipment in accordance with industry standards and company policies.
  • Operate construction equipment such as trenchers, backhoes, and plows to construct and maintain outside plant fiber facilities.
  • Perform cable fault acceptance tests on newly constructed facilities and identify location of defective fiber using various test equipment.
  • Locate cable and fiber in response to customer requests and/or construction needs.
  • Ensure worksite and landscape is fully restored after project completion.
Requirements
  • 1+ years of experience in construction equipment operation or current military service with honorable discharge.
  • Valid driver's license and eligibility for DOT requirements.
  • Ability to obtain a Class A CDL.
  • Physical ability to climb poles, ladders, towers, and other structures as needed.
  • Ability to kneel, dig, lift, and pull.

Work Environment

The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and may have to work in attics and crawl spaces, or high-risk areas such as high voltage electrical, trenches, and manholes.
