English Language Learner Teacher

Codman Academy Charter Public School is seeking a highly skilled English Language Learner Teacher to join our team. As an ELL Teacher, you will be responsible for developing the English language skills of our students, creating engaging lesson plans, and delivering instruction to students of varying skill levels.
Responsibilities:- Administer student paperwork and testing according to WIDA guidelines
- Teach small group ESL classes to students K-12
- Provide ESL support in class for students K-12
- Write and manage language acquisition plans for MLL students
- Use SEMSTracker to maintain organized files for MLL students
- Plan and organize schedules for MLL students to ensure state compliance
- Manage and administer yearly ACCESS testing
- Develop additional materials to complement curriculum
- Work with teachers/grade teams to ensure MLL students access in-class curriculum
- Demonstrate subject area expertise and knowledge of child development
- Develop a game plan for the year aligned with state standards and assessments
- Plan units backwards, aligned with high standards, state assessments, and Bloom's levels
- Assess student learning through diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments
- Anticipate student misconceptions and develop strategies to overcome them
- Design lessons with clear, measurable goals aligned with standards and expedition outcomes
- Engage students in active learning through highly relevant lessons
- Use an effective mix of learning materials and technology
- Differentiate lessons to address all learning needs, styles, and interests
- Communicate and enforce high expectations
- Build strong relationships with students and colleagues
- Win students' respect and create a climate of learning
- Implement a program to develop positive interactions and social-emotional skills
- Establish class routines and develop students' self-discipline and responsibility
- Use a highly effective discipline repertoire to capture and hold students' attention
- Use coherence, momentum, and transitions to maximize learning time
- Nip discipline problems in the bud and get students to buy into a system of incentives
- Exude high expectations and determination
- Actively inculcate a 'growth' mindset
- Show students exactly what's expected through learning targets, essential questions, and rubrics
- Hook students' interest and make connections to prior knowledge and experience
- Present material clearly and explicitly, with examples and vivid language
- Orchestrate highly effective strategies, materials, and groupings to involve and motivate students
- Engage students in focused work and problem-solving
- Differentiate and scaffold instruction to reach all students
- Adapt lessons to exploit teachable moments and correct misunderstandings
- Post and review clear criteria for proficient work
- Give students a diagnostic assessment and fine-tune instruction
- Check for understanding and clarify confusion
- Set ambitious goals with students and self-assess performance
- Recognize students' progress and motivate direct effort
- Work with colleagues to use interim assessment data and re-teach struggling students
- Relentlessly follow up with struggling students and provide personal attention
- Make sure students receive appropriate services and support
- Analyze chart data and draw action conclusions to leverage student growth
- Show sensitivity and respect for family and community culture
- Show parents/guardians an in-depth knowledge of their child and a strong belief in their potential
- Give parents/guardians clear, user-friendly learning and behavior expectations
- Communicate positive news and flag any problems
- Involves parents/guardians in supporting and enriching the curriculum
- Assign highly-engaging assignments and provide rich feedback
- Deal immediately and successfully with parent/guardian concerns
- Give parents/guardians detailed feedback on their child's progress
- Be successful in contacting and working with all parent/guardians

- Speak and write appropriately, succinctly, and eloquently in professional contexts
- Carry out assignments conscientiously and punctually, keep meticulous records, and be never late
