Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Worker to join our team at Heavenly Comfort AFC. As a Direct Care Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to our clients, enabling them to maintain their independence and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized care and assistance with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, to ensure our clients' physical and emotional well-being.
  • Monitor and report any changes in clients' health, behavior, or needs to our healthcare professionals, ensuring timely interventions and support.
  • Administer medication as prescribed and maintain accurate records of clients' medication schedules, adhering to our strict confidentiality and data protection policies.
  • Prepare and serve meals according to specific dietary requirements and assist with feeding if necessary, promoting our clients' nutritional well-being.
  • Accompany clients to appointments and outings, ensuring their safety and well-being during transportation, and providing emotional support and companionship.
  • Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, dishwashing, and tidying up, to promote a healthy and comfortable living space.
  • Implement individualized care plans as directed by our healthcare professionals, ensuring our clients receive tailored support and care.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, promoting their mental and social well-being, and encouraging their independence within their capabilities and care plan guidelines.
  • Assist clients with mobility, including the use of wheelchairs, walkers, or transferring from bed to chair, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Facilitate recreational activities and social interactions according to clients' interests and abilities, promoting their engagement and enjoyment.
  • Respect clients' privacy and confidentiality in all aspects of care, adhering to our strict confidentiality and data protection policies.
  • Record and maintain accurate client care documentation and progress notes, ensuring timely interventions and support.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities, enhancing your skills and knowledge in caregiving and support work.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide first aid as needed, ensuring our clients' safety and well-being.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Previous experience in caregiving or a related role.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Physical ability to lift and assist patients as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor.
  • Basic understanding of hygiene and sanitation practices.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Knowledge of basic health care procedures.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Basic computer literacy to document care in electronic health records.
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
