Overview
As a Direct Care Worker, you will be instrumental in delivering compassionate assistance to individuals requiring support with their daily activities. This role is essential in fostering a nurturing environment that enhances the quality of life for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer empathetic care and support with daily living tasks, including personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming.
- Observe and communicate any changes in clients' health or behavior to the appropriate personnel.
- Administer prescribed medications and keep precise records of medication administration.
- Prepare meals in accordance with dietary needs and assist clients during mealtime as necessary.
- Accompany clients to various appointments and outings, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Maintain a tidy and safe living space by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Implement care plans as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, promoting mental and social well-being.
- Assist clients with mobility challenges, including the use of mobility aids.
- Encourage participation in recreational activities based on clients' interests.
- Uphold clients' privacy and confidentiality in all care aspects.
- Document client care and progress accurately.
- Engage in staff meetings and ongoing training opportunities.
- Respond to emergencies and provide first aid when necessary.
- Support clients in achieving independence within their care plans.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Prior experience in caregiving or a similar field.
- Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.
- Physical capability to assist clients as required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and patient attitude.
- Basic knowledge of hygiene and sanitation standards.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Reliable transportation is essential.
- Understanding of basic healthcare procedures.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain confidentiality.
- Basic computer skills for electronic documentation.
- Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
