About the Role

The Women's Business Development Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to lead its Child Care Business Support Program. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team at a growing nonprofit organization that supports women entrepreneurs and small business owners in Connecticut.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and deliver educational programs and services to child care providers across Connecticut, including outreach, facilitation, delivery, and achieving program goals and compliance.
  • Lead a team of Program Coordinators and Business Advisors, supporting WBDC's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Develop and implement workshops, courses, and advising services to support child care business education and growth.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with business and early childhood community partners for collaboration, referrals, and training opportunities.
  • Recruit, vet, and manage volunteer instructors and advisors, engaging WBDC's Child Care Business Advisory Council.
  • Monitor contract requirements for compliance, implement plans to meet deliverables, and generate program outcomes and report progress.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in program and project management, community building, and customer service.
  • Professional experience in early childhood education, community development, or the entrepreneurial ecosystem, with training or coaching.
  • MBA or undergraduate degree in business administration, management, accounting, finance, economics, entrepreneurship, or early childhood education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of the child care industry and business model, with sales and customer-service orientation.
  • Experience working with diverse communities or underserved populations, with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build trusted relationships.
  • Experience managing people, with excellent communication, writing, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent presentation/public speaking skills to small groups in person and virtually, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as needed, with own transportation for travel between locations.
