About the Role

Barnes & Noble Education, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Manager to lead our Cafe team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for driving sales, improving customer satisfaction, and maintaining a high level of operational excellence in our Cafe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Direct Team Members: Supervise and train a team of cafe staff to provide exceptional customer service, prepare food and drinks, and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Drive Sales and Promotions: Develop and implement strategies to increase sales, promote products, and enhance customer loyalty.
  • Manage Daily Operations: Oversee daily cafe activities, including inventory management, stock rotation, and equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure Customer Satisfaction: Respond to customer complaints, resolve issues, and provide excellent customer service to maintain a positive reputation for our Cafe.
  • Maintain a Safe and Healthy Work Environment: Ensure compliance with food safety and handling regulations, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and promote a healthy and safe working environment.
Requirements
  • 2+ Years of Retail Experience: Proven track record of success in a retail or food service management role.
  • High School Diploma/GED: Required.
  • Food Handling Experience: Preferred.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers, team members, and management.
  • Basic Reading, Writing, and Accounting Skills: Required.
  • Flexibility and Availability: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
