Job Description

Responsibilities of a Commercial Security Systems Technician:

The Commercial Security Systems Technician is tasked with servicing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting access control systems and IP-based video surveillance equipment. This includes, but is not limited to: electrified and non-electrified locks, card readers, ancillary door devices, IP and analog cameras, head-end video recording devices, both wired and wireless systems, and intercom systems.

  • Travel to various client locations to service, repair, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues with access control systems and IP-based video security equipment, including:

  • Identify and resolve installation issues efficiently while adhering to company standards; ensure physical security systems are operational and compliant with relevant building codes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for tracking service-related issues.
  • Exhibit proficiency in the safe operation of hand and power tools, as well as analog and digital testing equipment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, CAD drawings, and related documents for low voltage applications.
  • Foster and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external clients.
  • Provide remote diagnostic support via phone and online platforms.
  • Utilize a company-issued vehicle to travel to client sites for service delivery.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Operations Management.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • High School Diploma, Vocational School certification, or equivalent experience required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of field experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with software such as Software House, Lenel, AMAG, S2, Brivo, Milestone, Exacq, Axis, Bosch, Commend, DMP, Open Options, Notifier, Fluidmesh, or ONSSI is advantageous.
  • Possession of state-specific licensing (e.g., Class D or Alarm Installer) or the ability to obtain a license upon hiring.
  • Understanding of Windows operating systems and overall IT network structures.
  • A proactive and skilled individual who consistently upholds the core values of Allied Universal® Technology Services.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Availability for scheduled on-call duties to respond to emergency service requests.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills along with mechanical and electronic aptitude.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working at heights of up to 16 feet.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
