Stark State College is seeking a dynamic and cooperative Information Security Operations Specialist who will oversee daily security functions, including the support and maintenance of various information security tools that ensure compliance across IT assets managed by the College.

The ideal candidate will be instrumental in collaborating with IT personnel and other operational teams to coordinate, facilitate, and effectively enforce the compliance of the College's security policies and procedures.


Compensation:
$62,071 - $80,693. Stark State College provides a competitive salary based on the candidate's experience and qualifications, along with an outstanding benefits package.

Work Environment:
This role offers a remote/hybrid work arrangement, requiring one day a week in the North Canton (Main Campus) office.

Ideal Candidate:

If you possess expertise in the operation, maintenance, and functionality of firewalls, endpoint security systems, network devices, and contemporary operating systems, and have a proven history in cybersecurity design, administration, and operations, this role may align with your skills.

The preferred candidate is dedicated and enthusiastic about cybersecurity technologies, consistently seeking to enhance their knowledge of current hacking techniques and cyber threats while staying abreast of the latest industry trends.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Create, update, and maintain critical security policies and documentation.
  • Implement and manage secure, trusted systems to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, availability, safety, privacy, and recovery of digital assets managed by the College, including custom or third-party solutions.
  • Assess third-party solutions for compliance with Stark State College's security policies and coordinate third-party evaluations and testing.
  • Implement, manage, and support secure network solutions to safeguard against network intrusions.
  • Oversee security measures to protect data, systems, and networks, including managing security technology and audit/intrusion systems that involve Cisco, Microsoft, and other security solutions related to VPNs, Data Loss Prevention, IDS/IPS, Security Audits, and more.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the College's security and network, including addressing any system breaches.
  • Engage in the change management process to anticipate the effects of changes through potential scenarios and assess the security implications on information resources.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure consistent application of policies and standards across all technology projects, systems, and services, including privacy, risk, audit and compliance, and business continuity management.
  • Establish and maintain a framework for roles and responsibilities regarding information and master data ownership, classification, accountability, and protection of digital assets.
  • Build and maintain external networks with industry peers, partners, vendors, and other relevant parties to stay informed on best practices addressing security trends and cybersecurity risks.
  • Monitor security advisory groups and ensure that necessary security updates, patches, and preventive measures are implemented.


Qualifications:

An Associate degree with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a combination of information security and IT.
