Job Summary

The Tooling Manager will oversee the design team, manage tool orders in the Hitchiner enterprise system (IQMS), and ensure timely completion of tooling designs, builds, reworks, and cleanings.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Tool Room Management: Coordinate and manage personnel in the US Operations main tool room and satellite tool room locations to support manufacturing operations.
  2. Design Team Management: Manage design team personnel, design schedule, insource verses outsource, approving and assigning PLM tool orders in the Hitchiner enterprise system IQMS.
  3. Tooling Design and Build: Provide tooling designs, builds, reworks, and cleanings in support of operations to meet Hitchiner customer commitments for on-time delivery.
  4. Operational Efficiency: Meet the needs of multiple plants by understanding the organization's most critical needs by attending daily plant GEMBA meetings and other planning meetings.
  5. Tool Room Equipment Management: Manage and maintain tool room equipment with a focus on safety, understanding equipment capacity, capabilities, and constraints, and adding equipment and personnel as needed to meet increased demand.
  6. PLM Tool Work Order Process: Manage the design and build PLM tool work order process in the Hitchiner enterprise system by approving and assigning work orders with due dates and following up, including outside vendors.
  7. Technical Support: Provide technical support for efficient troubleshooting/problem-solving activities and tooling repair to maximize efficiencies and minimize downtime.
  8. Vendor Management: Align outside vendors to support tooling needs with weekly schedule follow-up calls to resolve technical issues timely to satisfy on-time delivery.
  9. Performance Management: Conduct annual performance reviews, assign goals and objectives that align with the organization's needs and employee growth.
  10. Departmental Cost Management: Maintain department costs within budget.
  11. Tooling Department Effectiveness: Manage the effectiveness of the tooling department by streamlining flow, balancing insource verses outsource, and updating monthly metrics to performance.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Perform other duties as assigned.
  2. Ensure compliance with Company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
  3. Ensure that all activities and operations are performed in compliance with the Company's Code of Conduct.
