  • Offer veterinary guidance to Stewards regarding the health, welfare, and fitness of racehorses
  • Be present during training and racing hours
  • Attend scratch time to confirm veterinary scratches and promptly report to Racing Officials
  • Conduct pre-race evaluations in the paddock and post-race assessments, advising Stewards accordingly
  • Provide emergency medical care to horses on-site and perform euthanasia when necessary
  • Maintain records of incidents and injuries

BRING YOUR EXPERTISE.

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must possess a valid Veterinary license in New Mexico and maintain good standing
  • Must be approved by the New Mexico State Racing Commission
  • Must have a comprehensive understanding of New Mexico Racing Laws and Regulations
  • Must be knowledgeable about Thoroughbred horses
  • Must be capable of working in various weather conditions
  • Excellent communication skills are essential
  • Must adhere to professional appearance standards as outlined by company policy
  • Must be able to respond to visual and auditory cues
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, often crowded and noisy environment
  • Physically capable of performing tasks that may include pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting up to 60 lbs., as well as maneuvering in confined spaces
