Position Summary

The Electrical Estimator plays a crucial role in delivering project pricing, estimates, and proposals to enhance the operations of the Electrical Team. This position may also involve assisting with scheduling, bill of materials (BOMs), and overall project coordination, which encompasses the availability of personnel, resources, and materials, as well as required tools and equipment. Additionally, the Estimator will support project initiation alongside the assigned Project Manager.

Regular communication and collaboration with management in the Electrical Department and other departments are essential to support various industries, including Industrial Construction, Manufacturing, Power Generation, Aggregate, Oil and Gas, and Renewable Energy sectors.

This role demands a flexible schedule, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits as necessary before bid submission.
  • Generate pricing estimates for new projects, additional work, and modifications to existing projects.
  • Interpret and integrate bid instructions and detailed specifications into each estimate.
  • Compile and submit bids along with all required documentation.
  • Conduct accurate take-offs of materials, labor, equipment, and delivery costs to ensure comprehensive estimates.
  • Draft preliminary project schedules for submission with bids as required.
  • Provide essential job information to ensure a seamless transition of estimates to Project Managers.
  • Engage with clients to understand their needs and deliver precise quotes.
  • Build relationships with vendors to enhance efficiencies and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to assist in quoting and obtain their review and approval of each bid prior to submission.
  • Participate in post-project evaluations to identify areas for improved estimating practices.
  • Recognize potential challenges and propose effective solutions.
  • Support field operations through various administrative tasks such as purchasing and material tracking.

  • Maintain concentration in a distracting environment.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of electrical experience or equivalent education preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in electrical estimating and/or fieldwork is preferred.
  • Possession of a Master Electrician's License is preferred, with a requirement to obtain the necessary license within 6 months of hire.
  • Capability to develop estimates from software programs, PDF drawings, blueprints, and shop drawings.
  • Basic understanding of the National Electric Code.
  • Proficient in personal computers and software, particularly Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Adaptability to changing customer needs.
  • Dependable, trustworthy, and positive attitude.
  • Ability to present information effectively and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
