Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the Electrical Estimator is to deliver precise project pricing, estimates, and proposals that bolster the initiatives of the Electrical Team. This role also encompasses assisting in project scheduling, compiling bills of materials (BOMs), and ensuring seamless project coordination. Key tasks may involve assessing personnel availability, resource allocation, and material requirements, as well as providing essential support during project initiation phases.

This position necessitates regular communication and collaboration with management within the Electrical Department and other departments to facilitate projects across diverse industries such as Industrial Construction, Manufacturing, Power Generation, Oil and Gas, and Renewable Energy sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and conduct site assessments as necessary before bid submission.
  • Generate pricing estimates for new projects, additional work, and modifications to existing contracts.
  • Thoroughly review and integrate bid instructions and detailed specifications into each estimate.
  • Compile and submit bids along with all required documentation.
  • Accurately assess materials, labor, equipment, and delivery costs to create comprehensive estimates.
  • Draft preliminary project timelines for inclusion with bids as required.
  • Ensure a smooth transition of estimates to Project Managers by providing all pertinent job information.
  • Engage with clients to understand their needs and deliver precise quotes.
  • Foster relationships with suppliers to enhance efficiencies and minimize costs.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to assist in the quoting process and seek their review and approval of bids prior to submission.
  • Take part in post-project evaluations to identify areas for improved estimating practices.
  • Recognize potential challenges and propose effective solutions.
  • Support field operations through various administrative tasks such as purchasing and material tracking.
Working Environment
  • Engage in tasks that require sitting, talking, hearing, reading, writing, and typing.
  • Walk and utilize hands for handling objects, tools, or controls.
  • Maintain concentration in a potentially distracting environment.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of electrical experience or relevant educational background is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in electrical estimating or fieldwork is desirable.
  • Possession of a Master Electrician's License is preferred, with a requirement to obtain a specific license within a designated timeframe post-hire.
  • Ability to develop estimates using software, PDF drawings, blueprints, and shop drawings.
  • Basic understanding of the National Electric Code is essential.
  • Proficient in personal computer applications, particularly Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail are critical.
  • Proven ability to perform under pressure and meet project deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with the capability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Adaptability to evolving customer requirements is essential.
  • Dependability, trustworthiness, and a positive attitude are required.
