About the Role

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Systems Engineering and Policy to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and technical expertise to support the development and implementation of aerospace systems and policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership and management of aerospace systems and policy initiatives, including the development of strategic plans and technical roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address technical and policy challenges, and to develop innovative solutions that meet the needs of our customers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, and other experts in the field of aerospace systems and policy.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and trends in aerospace systems and policy, and apply this knowledge to inform our organization's strategic direction and decision-making.
  • Lead and manage teams of engineers and policy analysts to support the development and implementation of aerospace systems and policies.
  • Develop and manage budgets and resources to support the development and implementation of aerospace systems and policies.
  • Ensure that all work is conducted in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards, and that our organization maintains a strong reputation for integrity and excellence.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or closely related technical field.
  • 12 or more years of progressively demonstrated experience in systems engineering and policy, including experience in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven track record of success in developing and implementing strategic plans and technical roadmaps.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, and other experts in the field of aerospace systems and policy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex technical and policy challenges.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Active TS/SSBI security clearance, which is issued by the US government.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced technical and/or business degree.
  • Experience supporting the development and implementation of aerospace systems and policies for the Department of Defense or other government agencies.
  • Knowledge of national security system procurement processes, including the Defense Acquisition System (DAS) and the Programming, Planning, Budgeting and Execution (PPBE) process.
  • Experience supporting the development and implementation of national space policy.
  • Applicable SAP/SAR accesses.
