About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Manager to join our team at Turner & Townsend. As a key member of our Life Sciences construction projects, you will be responsible for providing cost management and estimating support services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain accurate cost plans, including estimates and forecasts, to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Collaborate with design services teams and construction managers to review and participate in the development of cost estimates.
  • Communicate with construction managers and owner project managers to gather status information and prepare cost estimate updates.
  • Coordinate all sources of cost information for cost discussions and manage contract increase costs and reasons for change.
  • Manage and track Workstream budgets, ensuring compliance with client processes and developing an understanding of the client's Work Breakdown Structure.
  • Utilize client templates to maintain project forecasts, interface with vendors and client site personnel to understand invoicing schedules, and use client SAP reports to gather data for cost reporting.
  • Provide monthly and quarterly reports to the management team, including a monthly variance cash flow report.
  • Reconcile changes and assist construction managers to ensure accurate data, estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the construction lifecycle, and participate effectively in post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
  • Update project cash flow in the client's custom database, review vendor and general contractor invoices, establish monthly project metrics, and create presentations for Workstreams.
  • Perform monthly risk analysis, integrate risks into the project forecast, and support tracking of internal client labor charges.
  • Develop and implement work processes and procedures as required, prepare written comments for construction manager submissions, and manage cost impact and contingency management.
  • Prepare funding data presentations, monthly time phase forecasting updates, and project status reports for stakeholders.
Pre-Contract and Post-Contract Responsibilities
  • Develop estimates through the design phase, delivering updated cost plans at appropriate design milestones.
  • Provide commercial input to design optioneering and input into value engineering exercises.
  • Review contractor and subcontractor pricing and lead negotiations on behalf of the client to drive fair contract prices.
  • Perform quantity surveying, cost controls, and change management activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure post-contract cost variances and change control processes are managed effectively, cost auditing and valuation work is managed effectively, and final accounts are negotiated and agreed in a timely manner.
