Position Summary

We are in search of a Lead Cost Consultant who possesses a wealth of experience in managing extensive Life Sciences construction initiatives. This role will serve as the primary liaison with our clients, ensuring that projects are driven towards achieving outstanding results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive cost management and estimation support for capital construction projects within the Life Sciences sector.
  • Deliver detailed estimates and cost planning, culminating in the presentation of the final cost plan.
  • Collaborate with the design services team and construction management to develop accurate cost estimates.
  • Engage with construction managers and project owners to gather status updates for cost estimate revisions.
  • Coordinate all cost information sources for effective discussions.
  • Oversee and monitor contract adjustments and the rationale behind changes.
  • Manage the budget for the Workstream, ensuring adherence to client protocols.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Client Work Breakdown Structure and manage the custom WBS within the Client Cost Report Spreadsheet.
  • Utilize existing client templates to maintain project forecasts, including commitments, actual cash flow, and projections.
  • Leverage Client SAP reports for data collection related to cost reporting.
  • Generate monthly and quarterly reports for the management team, including variance cash flow reports.
  • Maintain Change Management and Risk Tracking Tools using Excel or alternative reporting tools.
  • Reconcile changes and assist construction managers in ensuring data accuracy.
  • Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Participate in post-contract cost variance assessments and change control processes.
  • Update project cash flow in the Client's custom database for your Workstreams.
  • Review vendor and general contractor invoices as necessary.
  • Establish monthly project metrics and prepare presentations for your Workstreams.
  • Conduct monthly risk analyses and integrate risks into project forecasts.
  • Support the tracking of internal client labor charges in various locations as applicable.
  • Develop and implement necessary work processes and procedures.
  • Prepare written feedback on all submissions from the construction manager.
  • Manage cost impacts, contingency management, and commitment tracking logs to ensure accurate monthly reporting.
  • Prepare funding data presentations and monthly time phase forecasting updates.
  • Compile monthly project status reports for stakeholders.
Pre-Contract Responsibilities
  • Develop estimates throughout the design phase, providing updated cost plans at key milestones.
  • Offer commercial insights during design optioneering and value engineering exercises.
  • Review contractor and subcontractor pricing, leading negotiations to secure fair contract prices on behalf of the client.
Post-Contract Responsibilities
  • Conduct quantity surveying, cost control, and change management activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure effective management of post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
  • Oversee cost auditing and valuation tasks to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare monthly time phase forecasting updates and project status reports for stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely negotiation and agreement of final accounts.
