Job Title: Shop Equipment Mechanic

H&K Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled Shop Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Skippack, PA. As a Shop Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining diesel and gasoline heavy equipment in our shop.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform all work adhering to OSHA/MSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Review job orders and observe equipment in operation to determine malfunction and plan work procedures
  • Identify parts for repairs or replacement for all systems on equipment when needed
  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on equipment, and make adjustments
  • Dismantle machines or equipment to examine parts for defect or to remove defective parts
  • Replace defective parts with new parts or repair or reproduce parts from various kinds of metal
  • Assemble and test operate machines to verify correction of malfunction and confirm that it meets manufacturer's specifications
  • Overhaul gas or diesel engines
  • Perform diagnostics through the use of computers
  • Support additional shop work including vehicle maintenance and repair
Requirements:
  • One year certificate from an accredited college or technical school in a related field or 2 years of related experience and/or training
  • Valid driver's license
  • Clean driving record
  • Computer skills including data entry, inventory, programming, MS Office (Outlook, Excel)
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use mechanic's hand tools
  • Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed
  • Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Four years of related experience
  • CDL
  • Medical card
  • Experience working with equipment in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
  • OSHA, MSHA, or other relevant safety certifications
