Job Overview

The Director of Plant Operations is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy environment for all individuals within the organization, including patients, staff, and visitors. The following duties are indicative of the responsibilities typically associated with this role:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and prioritize work schedules based on established goals, budget limitations, and preventative maintenance plans.
  • Ensure timely and efficient procurement of parts, equipment, and services.
  • Supervise plant operations personnel in accordance with established policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Develop and maintain a quality assurance program to evaluate products and services effectively.
  • Conduct inspections throughout the facility to verify compliance with cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Recruit, train, and manage housekeeping staff, ensuring efficient operations.
  • Oversee the requisition and distribution of housekeeping supplies while coordinating maintenance tasks.
  • Act as the fiscal manager for the department.
  • Handle personnel management activities, including recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and employee relations.
  • Adhere to the organization's ethical standards and commitment to customer service.

Qualifications:

Education and Licensure: High School diploma or equivalent required; technical training is advantageous.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in operations, facilities, and maintenance is preferred, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proficient in reading technical blueprints and writing policies; strong management and supervisory skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, CMS, and Joint Commission standards in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Additional Requirements: Valid driver's license.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other department leaders and staff.
  • Experience working with various external partners and organizations.
  • Willingness to work a standard forty-hour week, including weekends.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills, with the ability to negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Excellent multitasking and time management abilities.
  • Demonstrated follow-through on tasks and responsibilities.
  • Possess strong leadership qualities and the ability to motivate staff.

  • Engage in physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
  • Communicate effectively through spoken word, conveying detailed instructions accurately.
  • Ability to hear and perceive sounds with clarity.
  • Perform repetitive motions with hands and fingers, with the capability to exert up to 100 pounds of force as needed.
  • Maintain a minimum standard of visual acuity for administrative tasks and inspections.
  • Concentrate amidst distractions and manage interruptions effectively.
  • Work primarily indoors, with minimal exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
