Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water Treatment Plant Operations and Maintenance Technician to join our team at the City of Georgetown. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our water treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain water treatment facilities, including starting and stopping system pumps, opening and closing valves, and adjusting system operating parameters.
  • Perform routine rounds of the treatment facility to monitor treatment process, identify and troubleshoot process anomalies or mechanical problems with equipment.
  • Monitor and interpret data from SCADA systems and computerized control systems to make process changes and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on water treatment facilities, including preventive or corrective maintenance on motors, pumps, blowers, cranes, piping, valves, and other components.
  • Operate, repair, and maintain hand tools, power tools, power equipment, heavy equipment, and specialized machinery to maintain and repair water treatment facilities.
  • Ensure all safety requirements are followed and maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Class "D" Water Treatment Plant license from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality within 12 months of hire.
  • Three years of full-time experience in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment facility.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions

This position requires working outdoors in hot, cold, and/or wet weather, exposure to noise and vibration from machinery, toxic chemicals and gases, work in confined spaces (trenches, manholes), and work with contaminants.

Compensation

The hiring range for this position is $27.95 hourly for Trainee, $32.37 hourly for Technician, and $37.47 hourly for Senior.
