Job Overview

Position Summary: The HR Operations Manager is tasked with managing the daily functions of the Human Resources department, ensuring that HR processes and services are streamlined, effective, and in alignment with the strategic objectives of the organization. This position encompasses the management of HR systems, payroll and benefits administration, compliance with labor regulations, and the promotion of ongoing enhancements in HR operations. The HR Operations Manager is pivotal in formulating and executing HR strategies that improve the overall employee experience.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Management of HR Operations:
    • Direct the daily activities of the HR department, which includes HR administration, payroll, benefits, and compliance.
    • Formulate, implement, and oversee HR policies and procedures to ensure uniformity and adherence across the organization.
    • Guarantee that HR services and processes are efficient, scalable, and aligned with business goals.
  2. HR Systems and Technology Oversight:
    • Administer HR systems, including HRIS, payroll systems, and other HR technology platforms.
    • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data within HR systems and promote system enhancements as necessary.
    • Provide training and support to HR personnel and other users of HR systems.
  3. Administration of Payroll and Benefits:
    • Supervise the payroll administration, ensuring timely and precise processing of employee compensation.
    • Oversee employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and additional perks.
    • Collaborate with external vendors and partners to ensure effective delivery of payroll and benefits services.
  4. Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
    • Conduct regular evaluations of HR practices to identify and mitigate risks.
    • Manage the preparation and submission of required compliance reports.
  5. Employee Relations and Support:
    • Offer guidance and support to HR staff and managers on HR-related matters, including employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
    • Oversee the resolution of employee inquiries and grievances in a fair and consistent manner.
    • Encourage a positive workplace culture by fostering effective communication and employee engagement.
  6. Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
    • Identify opportunities for process enhancement within HR operations and implement best practices to boost efficiency.
    • Lead HR projects and initiatives aimed at refining HR services and enhancing employee experience.
    • Monitor HR metrics and analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of HR operations and make informed decisions.
  7. Leadership of HR Team:
    • Supervise and mentor HR personnel, providing guidance and support in their professional growth.
    • Ensure that HR staff are trained and equipped to perform their roles effectively.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performing HR team that aligns with the organization's values and objectives.
  8. Budget Oversight:
    • Assist in the formulation and management of the HR department budget.
    • Monitor and control expenditures to ensure cost-effective delivery of HR services.
    • Identify opportunities to optimize HR operations while maintaining quality and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in HR operations, with at least 2-3 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in HRIS, payroll systems, and other HR technology platforms.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and make decisions based on data and insights.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) is a plus.
