Position Overview:

Join the dedicated team at CommonSpirit Health as a Nutritional Services Associate within our Nutrition Services department. This role is vital in fulfilling our mission by ensuring that patients receive the appropriate meals and beverages as per established dietary guidelines. You will be involved in the assembly of patient meal trays and perform various tasks including operating and maintaining kitchen equipment.

Your exceptional customer service skills will be essential as you assist in serving meals to guests in various dining facilities, including cafes and dining centers, while also managing cash register operations. Attention to detail is crucial as you will maintain records, inventories, and other necessary documentation for all food service areas.

The Nutritional Services Associate will work collaboratively with team members to uphold high standards of cleanliness and safety in all food preparation and service areas, promptly reporting any unsafe conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve nutritious, safe, and appetizing meals that support the health and recovery of patients.
  • Handle meal preparation for all patients, accommodating regular, therapeutic, and modified diets.
  • Follow established recipes and food safety protocols while preparing patient meals.
  • Utilize meal service software to accurately place diet orders based on patient preferences and nutritional requirements.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Nutrition Services Department and relevant food safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Collect used trays and utensils from patient care areas and dining facilities.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment and workspaces are kept clean and organized.
  • Set up dining areas with food and beverage items as per established guidelines.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Servsafe Food Handler certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Successful completion of health screenings as mandated by the organization.
  • Capability to lift and carry a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and physical agility.
  • Ability to perform various physical tasks including bending, stooping, and reaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with computer systems.
  • Experience in healthcare, educational, or commercial food service settings.
  • One to three years of experience in food service roles.
