The Nutritional Services Associate will exemplify teamwork, ensuring proper storage and equipment usage in all food service areas while adhering to high sanitation and safety standards, promptly reporting any unsafe conditions.

CHI St. Joseph's Health, part of CommonSpirit Health, is a recognized 25-bed critical access hospital situated in a picturesque region. Fully accredited by The Joint Commission, we provide a comprehensive range of services, including a 24/7 Emergency Department and Level IV Trauma Center, alongside various medical programs to support your health journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve nutritious, safe, and appetizing meals to patients, families, and staff that foster health and recovery.
  • Responsible for the preparation and delivery of meals tailored to all patients, including standard, therapeutic, and modified texture diets.
  • Follow established standardized recipes, IDDSI guidelines, and safe food handling practices when preparing patient meals.
  • Utilize meal service software to accurately place diet orders for hospital patients based on preferences, allergens, and nutritional requirements.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Nutrition Services Department, state food regulations, and the Joint Commission standards.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment in compliance with departmental standards.
  • Collect used trays and utensils from patient care areas and dining facilities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all equipment and workspaces, ensuring adequate supplies of trays, china, and silverware in dining areas.
  • Set up dining facilities with hot and cold food items and beverages according to established protocols.
  • Additional responsibilities as outlined in the formal job description.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Servsafe Food Handler certification is required within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues and management.
  • Must pass the health screening mandated by the Hospital.
  • Capability to lift and carry a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Ability to remain on your feet throughout the workday with good hand-eye coordination.
  • Capacity to bend, stoop, squat, climb on a step ladder, and reach above shoulder level.
  • Ability to crouch, kneel, and maintain balance.
  • Proficiency in using both hands simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with navigating computer systems.
  • Experience in healthcare, educational, or commercial food service environments.
  • One to three years of experience in food service.
