Job Description

The Senior Regional EHS Manager will provide leadership and direction to ensure that assigned locations, both plant and field service/installation, management staff, and employee populations are knowledgeable and compliant in applicable areas of Environmental Health & Safety. This position will champion projects and activities to achieve location priorities and company values, reporting directly to the Business Unit Director of EHS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interact with local teams from floor level to Plant Manager/install employee to General Manager and beyond.
  • Assess and develop local talent, coaching them on techniques, tools, and high ethical mindset necessary to build and maintain strong EHS systems.
  • Ensure local policies and procedures for safe work are developed, implemented, and followed at assigned work locations.
  • Conduct site assessments, providing sharp technical and professional services to assigned site locations in a manner that ensures compliance and enhances EHS Management systems.
  • Develop and implement policies and programs to ensure compliance with applicable local, regional, and federal EHS regulations.
  • Frequent travel to assigned locations for leading, coaching, and general inspection to detect existing or potential EHS hazards and determine corrective actions.
  • Maintain and execute an EHS compliance calendar for all required regulatory and policy activities.
  • Lead, support, and serve in a Management leadership capacity on EHS-related committees.
  • Ensure mandatory Regulatory event reporting is completed on time and with highest integrity.
  • Provide plant and field service/installation staff leadership and technical guidance for EHS regulatory agency inspections and site contact/visits.
  • Perform and maintain Corporate assigned performance metrics.
  • Monitor and guide assigned plant and install/field service development of corrective actions plans to close identified gaps.
  • Serve as an Internal auditor within the framework of the company internal EHS auditing system.
  • Analyze and communicate EHS data trends, compliance performance, and permitting activity.
  • Ensure required local systems are in place for environmental, permitting, analytical testing, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Manage, evaluate, and promote applicable Sustainability actions.
  • Assist local leaders in developing local procedures, training, and leadership to ensure appropriate usage of Company Corporate EHS Management Database systems.
  • Monitor and report to BU EHS Director and Operations Leadership on the status and effectiveness of EHS-related corrective and preventive actions.
  • Serve as BU EHS support to corporate functional groups, providing medical and workers' compensation services to establish care, treatment, and claim management for on-the-job injuries.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in EHS or related Science field is highly desired. Master's Degree in EHS or related Science field is preferred.
  • With a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree, a minimum 5 years' experience in EHS function within a Manufacturing, Facilities Management, and/or Research Laboratory setting with direct responsibility for EHS activity and experience with Regulatory Agency interactions.
  • Required 3 or more years' experience of EHS leadership responsibility (organizational and/or direct reports).
  • Working knowledge of electrical compliance and standards (NFPA 70E).
  • Experience with DSR - Design Safety Reviews, PSSR- Pre-startup Safety Review.
  • Experience managing multiple projects at various facilities - experience with capital project experience.
  • Experience in the development of environmental, occupational safety, employee health, industrial hygiene, and related policies that guide the company's diversified interests.
  • Thorough understanding of EHS science; analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of EHS regulation with strong understanding of OSHA and EPA laws.
  • Priority made for: Technical Writing, Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, and Training skills.
  • Basic management skills to include formalized methodologies (goal setting, performance tracking, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and strong business acumen.
  • Emotional intelligence.
  • Experience with leadership positions and ability to manage complex operations and projects.
  • Multiple site experience.
  • Incumbent will be required to adequately function with software programs MS Office Suite intermediate level (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.). EHS Management System (such as Origami or a similar online portal).
  • Works with minimal direct supervision at all times based upon the incumbent's experience, judgment, and understanding of regulatory requirements, management systems, and site objectives.
  • Initiate, establish, and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external clients by communicating and influencing effectively at multiple levels of the organization to achieve results.
  • Financial responsibilities include managing assigned operating budgets and collaboration with assigned Location/Organization leader budget/spend approvals.
  • Frequent Domestic US and North America travel (50%+) is expected for this position.
  • This is a remote position, requiring strong home internet access capabilities, adequate/safe home office location, and reasonable (~ 1hr) access to airport with treasonable flight availability.
  • Some work will be performed in typical office, warehouse, and Manufacturing plant environment. Occasional work in warehouse, construction, and manufacturing operations environments.
  • Position may occasionally require moderate physical work and wearing of personal protective equipment necessary for auditing and/or risk assessment/characterization work at manufacturing locations.
  • Preference for applicable EHS-related professional certifications (ASP, CSP, IHIT, CIH, CHMM, etc.).
