Job Title: Substation Superintendent

At Kiewit Corporation, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Substation Superintendent to join our team. As a key member of our Field Supervision department, you will play a critical role in the success of our Transmission and Substation projects.

Job Summary:

The Substation Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing the execution of substation projects, ensuring timely completion, and maintaining high-quality workmanship. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Mentor and develop junior superintendents to ensure their growth and success
  • Review and approve labor rates for foremen, journeymen, and laborers
  • Manage contract administration, including subcontractor and field management meetings
  • Develop and implement programs to maintain good client relations and resolve issues
  • Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections
  • Review, approve, and negotiate change orders
  • Develop and implement plans for project completion and turnover
  • Ensure timely completion of performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Recommend organizational, policy, and procedural changes as needed
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of construction experience, with 3+ years in a leadership capacity on Transmission and Substation projects
  • Self-starter with strong motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand Kiewit's policies, procedures, and software programs
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be able to communicate and interact effectively with supervisors, employees, and other stakeholders. Field roles may involve working at various locations and in different conditions.
