Job Title: Patient Care Coordinator I

Job Summary:

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is seeking a highly skilled Patient Care Coordinator I to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our care team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to patients and families, care providers, and other departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule patient appointments and communicate directly with patients to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Work closely with patients, families, visitors, providers, and staff to identify needs, answer questions, resolve problems, and provide information.
  • Update patient and caregiver contact information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) as needed.
  • Communicate with providers, technologists, and nurses regarding patient scheduling needs, treatment schedules, and additional requests.
  • Manage and prioritize scheduling requests to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Recognize emergency situations and initiate correct code procedures.
  • Support the overall function of the department and may be required to take on additional duties such as cross-coverage, special projects, and training new staff.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently, organize, and prioritize concurrent responsibilities and demands.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in the use of computer systems, including word processing, email, and data entry.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and meet patient needs.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented, and complex healthcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a patient care setting.
  • Experience with Epic or other scheduling and registration software.
