Key Responsibilities

The SAQ Zoning and Permit Specialist is responsible for overseeing all zoning and permitting functions. This includes conducting research, liaising with relevant jurisdictions, and preparing and submitting permit applications along with all necessary documentation to secure zoning approvals and permits for various projects.

Essential Duties:

  • Establish effective communication channels with jurisdictions and cultivate relationships.
  • Research and assess telecommunication requirements in local zoning and permitting regulations.
  • Maintain and update zoning trackers with comprehensive research findings.
  • Ensure accurate site updates on zoning and permitting in the Master Tracker.
  • Package and dispatch applications as required.
  • Monitor application submissions to jurisdictions.
  • Digitally archive and upload documents to the customer database.
  • Follow up with jurisdictions regarding permit and zoning approvals.
  • Identify permitted use areas, challenging jurisdictions, filing deadlines, approval timelines, application prerequisites, and zoning codes.
  • Assist in the investigation and preparation for public hearings.
  • Support the preparation of hearing packages for various boards to secure necessary zoning relief.
  • Coordinate with local utilities, DOT, railroads, police, fire departments, and state-owned properties.
  • Review and analyze third-party independent engineering reports.
  • Examine zoning and construction drawings to ensure compliance with zoning codes and design specifications.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Compensation
Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience in zoning or urban planning is advantageous.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Above-average organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Business acumen including negotiation skills, customer orientation, conflict management, analytical problem-solving, and effective communication.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% as needed for job-related functions.
  • Primarily office-based work environment.
