Position Overview

The Lead Grants Auditor will serve as a pivotal role within the Arkansas Government Job framework. This position is tasked with overseeing compliance and ensuring that beneficiaries of Adult Education programs adhere to both federal and state grant regulations. The auditor will meticulously verify that all expenditures and inventory are accurately documented and permissible under applicable laws.

Travel Requirements

This role necessitates frequent travel throughout the state, including extended overnight stays that may last up to four days during the week. On average, travel may occur up to three times a week each month.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline, coupled with four years of relevant experience in accounting or auditing, including at least one year in an organizational auditing role.

Preferred Qualifications:
The Lead Grants Auditor should have a solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles and demonstrate their practical application. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is essential. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are crucial. While experience in grants management is preferred, it is not mandatory.

Responsibilities

The Lead Grants Auditor will be responsible for:

  • Conducting compliance and internal audits as per the annual audit plan.
  • Preparing and submitting risk assessments and federal reports.
  • Determining the scope of audits in collaboration with the audit coordinator.
  • Completing a minimum of three on-site audits monthly.
  • Examining and analyzing financial records to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Providing technical assistance regarding grant requirements to recipients and internal departments.
  • Reviewing reimbursement reports and reconciling them with general ledger entries.
  • Conducting compliance reviews on various grant recipients.
  • Performing internal audits across different sections of the department.
  • Assessing risks associated with assigned departments and grant recipients.
  • Collecting and analyzing data to identify potential deficiencies or non-compliance issues.
  • Preparing detailed reports of audit findings and presenting them to relevant stakeholders.
  • Developing and conducting workshops to assist grant recipients in compliance management.
