Job Title: Associate Director, Development Marketing

Columbia University is seeking a highly skilled Associate Director, Development Marketing to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to work with a world-renowned institution and contribute to the advancement of our mission.

Job Summary

The Associate Director, Development Marketing will be responsible for managing a portfolio of leadership annual giving donors and designing and executing Columbia Engineering's broad-based communications. This role will also develop various marketing strategies and materials to increase donor participation across Engineering constituencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the Director of Annual Giving to develop and implement large-scale annual campaigns, fundraisers, and challenges.
  • Manage a portfolio of leadership annual giving donors and analyze data to identify segments of prospects and donors capable of making gifts to Engineering annual funds.
  • Develop and deploy email marketing assets using Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Canva, and Adobe products.
  • Assist in Salesforce Marketing Cloud email management, including uploading send lists, scheduling and sending emails, and tracking email send information.
  • Ensure all materials, development communications, invitations, and graphic design work adhere to brand guidelines and marketing objectives.
  • Conduct general maintenance of the websites and edit content periodically.
  • Work with outside vendors to source pricing for purchases, design materials, manage deliveries, and process invoices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 3-4 years of related work experience required.
  • Experience using Salesforce Marketing Cloud or a comparable digital marketing platform required.
  • Experience using the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) required.
  • Excellent creative, writing, editing, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Extreme attention to detail and an eye for accuracy required.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with an ability to manage multiple and complex assignments simultaneously, determine priorities, meet deadlines, and monitor results required.
  • Must possess a high level of professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Must be self-directed and motivated, able to work independently, but also as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in related fields such as annual giving, nonprofit management, or fundraising within an academic or university setting, or other complex organizations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of basic fundraising principles preferred.
Other Requirements
  • Subject to business needs, the Office of Alumni and Development supports a hybrid work arrangement for this position.
  • Must be able to work some evening and weekend events as needed.
