ABOUT ALOHA UNITED WAY

For over a century, Aloha United Way (AUW) has been a cornerstone of the Oahu community, founded in 1919 by local leaders to enhance the efficiency of charitable fundraising and distribution to community organizations.

The mission of Aloha United Way is to foster the health, education, and financial stability of every individual in our community by uniting resources, organizations, and people. Through its commitment, AUW collaborates with more than 300 nonprofit entities, businesses, government bodies, and community leaders to tackle pressing social challenges.

AUW addresses critical systemic needs through investments in key areas such as the ALICE Initiative, Community Care Fund, Safety Net, and the 211 Statewide Helpline. As a champion, resource, partner, and connector within the community, AUW mobilizes resources, promotes volunteerism, and strives for sustainable change that enhances the well-being of individuals and families.

The Board of Directors comprises influential leaders from various sectors, dedicated to fostering systemic change. Their strategic oversight ensures that AUW remains a vital force in leading the community toward an equitable, healthy, and sustainable future.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Aloha United Way prepares for a leadership transition, the Executive Committee of the AUW Board of Directors is in search of a President & CEO who can build upon previous achievements and steer AUW into a new era of influence and growth.

The President & CEO will provide innovative leadership and strategic guidance for the organization, collaborating closely with the Board of Directors, staff, and community partners to further AUW's mission of enhancing health, education, and financial stability for all community members. Key responsibilities encompass resource development, community impact, organizational oversight, program innovation, strategic planning, and advocacy initiatives.

This leader will leverage relationships across the private, public, corporate, labor, and nonprofit sectors to address community needs and strategically plan for new revenue streams, including grants, partnerships, and business opportunities, ensuring AUW's effectiveness in Education, Poverty Prevention, and Safety Net Services. With a comprehensive understanding of business and management principles, the President & CEO will lead a high-performing executive team to achieve alignment and collaboration, ensuring operational and fiscal integrity.

Additionally, the President & CEO will act as the agency's spokesperson, fostering trust and enhancing relevance within the community.

This role will be crucial in formulating an updated strategic plan, driving initiatives that amplify the organization's impact, and ensuring sustainable growth and effectiveness in addressing Hawaii's most urgent social issues.
