Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to serve as an Assistant Clerk to the County Commissioners. This role will provide administrative support to the County Commissioners and their appointed boards and commissions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update standardized protocol and procedure manuals for boards and commissions.
  • Onboard and train board clerks and liaisons.
  • Coordinate with the Governor's appointment office for Governor-appointed boards and commissions.
  • Work with the Clerk to the Commissioners and County Attorney's Office to research legislation and establish documentation for new boards and commissions.
  • Coordinate and schedule speakers for public hearings and comment sessions.
  • Respond to public and employee inquiries and provide assistance regarding Commissioner matters.
  • Assist in scheduling appointments, setting up meetings, and making room reservations.
  • Coordinate with the PIO for marketing of vacancies on boards and commissions.
  • Communicate with County Staff and external entities to relay or obtain information.
  • Coordinate with IT Applications staff for database upgrades and revisions.
  • Research, file, record, and compile data for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain the integrity of the database and analyze term expirations and vacancies.
  • Prepare and follow up on requests for action by County Staff and the public.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures regarding boards and commissions.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or acceptable equivalency diploma (GED) and three years of related program and administrative support experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Notary Public license preferred.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs and virtual platforms proficiently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to utilize a high level of discretion, good judgment, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to perform office assignments involving substantive operations of the unit.
  • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records.
  • Ability to assist the public, clientele, and others to utilize services.
