Position Overview:

Cornell Cooperative Extension in New York City is seeking temporary nutrition educators to engage with diverse communities throughout NYC. These positions entail a commitment of 35 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and nurture partnerships with community organizations serving eligible families and youth.
  • Execute nutrition program activities in schools, after-school programs, community organizations, and Farmers' Markets as designated.
  • Assist in delivering nutrition education sessions for both youth and adults in community settings, supporting additional program initiatives as required.
  • Prepare educational materials and organize exhibits.
  • Conduct food tasting demonstrations to promote healthy eating.
  • Educate the public about Cornell University Cooperative Extension - NYC Nutrition & Health Programs and guide individuals to appropriate programs.
  • Compile program reports and documentation.
  • Support community educators, volunteers, and interns as needed.
  • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities as mandated.
  • This is a full-time role (35 hours per week), with some flexibility in scheduling.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Dependable and reliable.
  • Willingness to travel to various program sites and work outdoors in varying summer weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual capabilities in English/Spanish or English/Creole.
  • Completion of CUCE-NYC Nutrition & Health program series.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Compensation:
