Job Summary

As an Asset Protection Operations Coach Trainee at Walmart, you will play a critical role in protecting our assets and ensuring the safety of our customers and associates. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and resolve violations of company policies and criminal activities
  • Conduct investigations relating to operations and policies of the company
  • Obtain evidence, take statements, and write case reports
  • Provide courtroom testimony as needed
  • Participate in collaborative efforts with other investigative entities
  • Monitor safety and risk controls within a facility
  • Supervise the safety team and identify accident trends
  • Develop and implement solutions to prevent accidents
  • Observe work practices and provide training to associates on accident prevention techniques
  • Communicate plans to minimize accidents and oversee safety reviews
  • Implement plans to improve safety
  • Manage facility-level training and execution of asset protection, safety functions, and claims and receiving procedures
  • Review the application of policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines
  • Identify gaps in expectations versus training levels
  • Determine training needs and develop and deliver training where needed
  • Manage claims and receiving operations
  • Ensure proper policies and procedures are followed
  • Ensure timely processing of claims and merchandise deliveries
  • Provide direction for claims or receiving issues
  • Maintain necessary documentation and reporting
  • Model and demonstrate exceptional customer service standards
  • Follow and demonstrate the One Best Way (OBW) service model
  • Manage and support customer service initiatives
  • Ensure customer needs, complaints, and issues are successfully resolved
  • Develop and implement action plans to correct deficiencies
  • Provide process improvement leadership to ensure a high-quality customer experience
  • Drive the financial performance and sales of the designated store area
  • Review and evaluate P&L (Profit & Loss) statements
  • Manage and assist in budgeting, forecasting, and controlling expenses
  • Monitor and ensure effective merchandise presentation, seasonal transitions, inventory flow, and operational processes
  • Develop and implement action plans to mitigate shrink and ensure sales and profit goals are achieved for the business area
  • Provide supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates
  • Hire, train, and mentor associates
  • Assign duties and set clear expectations
  • Provide associate recognition and communicate expectations consistently and effectively
  • Ensure diversity and inclusion awareness
  • Recruit and develop qualified associates to meet staffing needs and achieve company growth potential
  • Lead and develop teams effectively
  • Teach, train, and actively listen to associates
  • Tour stores and provide feedback
  • Communicate and collaborate with all levels of associates regarding store operations
  • Utilize technology, business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction
  • Introduce and lead company change efforts
  • Provide clear expectations and guidance to implement business solutions
  • Communicate business objectives to teams effectively
  • Control the unexplained loss of merchandise and improve profitability
  • Identify and communicate performance goals and objectives
  • Build accountability for policies and procedures
  • Measure adherence to loss prevention policies and procedures
  • Review variances to inventory reports
  • Conduct operational and pre-inventory reviews
  • Gather data, audit results, and monitor deficiency trends
  • Identify improvement opportunities
  • Communicate and work with managers and associates to determine corrections needed to inventory controls
  • Influence the implementation and execution of control corrections
  • Teach managers and associates operational controls and processes in multiple stores
  • Demonstrate up-to-date expertise and apply this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices
  • Support and align efforts to meet customer and business needs
  • Build commitment for perspectives and rationales
  • Provide and support the implementation of business solutions
  • Build relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Identify business needs
  • Determine and carry out necessary processes and practices

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in business, criminal justice, or a related field
  • General work experience supervising 5 or more direct reports
  • Investigative experience
