Job Summary

The Chenega Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for providing armed protection services to our facilities and personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergencies and enforce federal and state laws as necessary.
  • Conduct mobile patrols, inspections, and searches to ensure the security and integrity of our facilities.
  • Enforce traffic laws and regulations, and conduct investigations as needed.
  • Initiate arrests and transport individuals as required.
  • Provide protective services, including guarding buildings and equipment, and controlling access to our facilities.
  • Communicate effectively with public and government personnel, and provide escort services as needed.
  • Provide access control, traffic control, and conduct armed security functions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized uniform and equipment.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and NASA regulations related to security, weapons, and personnel.
  • Conduct personnel, vehicular, and facility checks, and package and parcel inspections.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Preferred minimum of 2 years of military law enforcement or 1 year of armed security experience.
  • Honorably discharged (if applicable).
  • NASA Basic Training Standard (NBTS) required prior to appointment.
  • Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS-100) training required prior to appointment.
  • ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents (ICS-200) training required prior to appointment.
  • Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents (ICS-300) training required within 180 days of appointment.
  • National Incident Management System (NIMS) (IS-700) training required prior to appointment.
  • First Aid/CPR Certified or BLS certified per contract and PWS requirements.
  • California Law Enforcement Telecommunications Systems (CLETS).
  • Valid state driver's license required.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance (not required to start).
  • Meet drug testing and alcohol-free workforce requirements.
  • Speak, read, write, and understand the English language.
  • No record or history of illegal drug use, sale, possession, or manufacture.
  • No felony convictions or convictions that reflect on reliability.
  • Ability to maintain and qualify on a course of fire with handgun or other special weapons.
  • Meet and maintain NASA Physical Certifications.
  • Complete a Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory -2 (MMPI-2) and Shipley Institute of Living Scale psychological examinations.
  • Verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Successfully complete the Initial Physical Agility Test (IPAT).
Physical Agility Test

The IPAT consists of a one-mile run and an obstacle course. The time limits for the one-mile run are as follows:

  • 29 and under: 10:00 minutes
  • 30-39: 11:00 minutes
  • 40-49: 12:00 minutes
  • 50 and above: 12:30 minutes

The obstacle course consists of the following:

  • From a seated position, exit the vehicle.
  • Complete a 220-yard run.
  • Navigate an obstacle course (total length 115 feet).
  • Climb or vault over a solid structure, 40-inches in height.
  • Three high step hurdles (24 inches, 12 inches, and 18 inches high, spaced 3 feet apart).
  • Serpentine pylon maneuver, (4 pylons spaced 3 feet apart).
  • Low crawl under two separate bars, 28 inches in height and spaced 36 inches apart.
  • Complete a 50-foot sprint.
  • Drag a 150 lb. dummy or mannequin 50 feet.
  • Complete a 50-foot sprint to the obstacle course.
  • Navigate the obstacle course in reverse order (total length 115 ft).
