Position Summary:
The Sales Route Manager plays a pivotal role in driving revenue growth across designated routes. The successful candidate will cultivate, nurture, and enhance business, social, and community connections with clients along their assigned routes to maximize profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and sustain collaborative partnerships with store managers and key decision-makers.
- Communicate expectations clearly to company drivers, ensuring alignment with organizational goals through regular updates and training documentation submitted to Human Resources.
- Meet sales targets while providing exceptional customer service to a variety of accounts.
- Identify potential leads, manage prospects, and secure new business opportunities.
- Conduct visits to customer and prospective client facilities, offering information and support to foster and maintain business relationships.
- Enhance business growth by anticipating client needs, devising suitable solutions, and delivering superior customer service.
- Establish and maintain regular communication with District Managers of major retail chains to bolster sales and service standards.
- Build trust and rapport with key management personnel through consistent visits and effective communication.
- Prepare customized sales strategies based on comprehensive knowledge of specific retail clients and the complete product portfolio to leverage growth opportunities.
- Follow through on sales commitments to exceed expectations of store management.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of company products and pricing structures.
- Manage leads generated by the company effectively.
- Conduct scheduled and in-person prospecting activities to establish initial and follow-up meetings with key decision-makers.
- Regularly communicate with the Division Sales Manager regarding sales activities, goal progress, and prospective customer status.
- Periodically visit stores to assess service strengths and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure weekly customer visits to negotiate promotional opportunities and secure additional display space; a minimum of two visits per week is required.
- Participate in grand openings and store anniversaries.
- Review weekly Out-of-Stock reports to address any deficiencies promptly.
- Utilize effective time management skills to service stores and foster customer relationships, ensuring accessibility for major clients.
- Develop contingency plans for organizing, rerouting, or managing routes as necessary, ensuring all route documentation is orderly.
- Ensure stores receive adequate service without discrepancies.
- Adhere to all operational procedures regarding safety and hygiene.
- Attend all mandatory safety meetings.
- Ensure all equipment is well-maintained and operational.
- Maintain compliance with truck inventory standards.
- Uphold company policies, including those related to personal hygiene.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors while visiting clients.
- Experience interacting with various customer types within retail environments.
- Capability to lift 20 to 40 pounds.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean vehicle and/or truck.
- Adherence to all safety protocols, including the use of back support when lifting.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not mandatory.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in retail or field sales.
- Familiarity with basic computer operations (downloading documents, email, internet, Microsoft Word, etc.).
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Timely communication with management via phone or email.
- Experience using personal devices such as smartphones or tablets for functional tasks.
- Valid driver's license, full coverage auto insurance, and a clean driving record are required.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
