Enrollment Specialist

Full Time, On Site

Location: New York, NY

Hamilton-Madison House's Early Childhood Education Program is dedicated to enhancing the strengths of family child care through initiatives that foster responsive relationships, bolster early learning capabilities, cultivate resilience, and establish a solid foundation for lifelong learning. We regard family childcare as a vital and esteemed profession within New York City's early care and education framework.

The primary responsibility of the Enrollment Specialist is to attract expectant mothers, families, and caregivers for various Early Childhood Education Programs available through Hamilton-Madison House. Beyond outreach efforts, the Enrollment Specialist will assess eligibility to ensure full enrollment of qualified children and expectant mothers while overseeing ongoing compliance with ERSEA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the enrollment of eligible children, families, expectant mothers, and associated providers for EHS/HS services.
  • Identify and disseminate resources and programs to children in vulnerable situations, including those in refugee, homeless, military service family, or foster care scenarios.
  • Ensure the program adheres to enrollment criteria aimed at supporting children with disabilities.
  • Assist in evaluating preliminary eligibility for services and completing unified waitlist applications.
  • Engage families through partnerships with local medical facilities, elected officials, shelters, transitional housing, schools, NYCHA, and other organizations.
  • Conduct inquiries related to documentation on file, verifying residency, income, birth date, and other necessary eligibility information, and perform interviews to ascertain income sources.
  • Execute data entry tasks, including updating case file documentation during intake and redetermination, as well as maintaining the computerized childcare information system.
  • Communicate with families and providers regarding changes in eligibility, status, income, enrollment, and provider information.
  • Educate parents on all requirements, rules, and responsibilities related to determination and re-determination processes.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A Child Development Associate Credential or an Associate's Degree is required.
  • A strong understanding of NYC social services is essential.
  • Preferred candidates will have experience working with infants, toddlers, and families with young children.
  • Experience in recordkeeping, outreach, or community-based organization administrative work is advantageous.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese is preferred.
  • Ability to travel using public transportation or personal means for site visits is necessary.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, are required.
  • Capability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines is essential.

Compensation: $50,000

*Salary is based on credentials in accordance with DC 37 Local 205.

This is a Union Position with comprehensive benefits.
