Nuclear Medicine Technologist Level II Job Description

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist Level II to join our team in Vacaville, California.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Diagnostic Imaging Director, this role will prepare, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies. The successful candidate will utilize efficient and safe processes, perform related technological functions, and ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic studies on patients, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and produce images of organs on photographic film.
  • Prepare stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculate doses, and administer doses under the general supervision of a physician.
  • Administer therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direct supervision of a physician.
  • Measure radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors, and calibrate equipment.
  • Follow radiation safety techniques in the use and disposal of radioactive materials.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of three years continuous recent experience in nuclear medicine.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform all procedures and processes as determined by the employer.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other incumbents of the organization.
Education and Certifications:
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Nuclear Medicine Technologist from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists OR Medical Lab Technician Certificate from American Society for Clinical Pathologists OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certificate from Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
  • Nuclear Medical Technologist Certificate (California).
  • Basic Life Support.
