Job Title: Senior Associate Scientist, Rare Disease Research

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Associate Scientist to join our Rare Disease & Neurology (RD&N) Research Unit at Biogen. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the advancement of research for drug discovery and development programs in the field of rare neurological disorders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate novel biology and therapeutic approaches in human and rodent cell systems
  • Implement and execute diverse in vitro assays to support the unit's research and drug discovery programs
  • Support in vivo work with rodent models of genetic disorders
  • Collaborate with other group members and teams at Biogen to advance research and drug discovery programs
  • Plan, execute, troubleshoot, and analyze experiments, and present results at internal meetings
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology or related field with 2-4 years of experience
  • High level of technical expertise in cell culture, protein/RNA/DNA analyses, in vivo animal studies, molecular cloning, qPCR, and microscopy
  • Hands-on expertise with performing and troubleshooting cell-based assays
  • Enthusiasm, dedication, flexibility, and collaborative spirit necessary to learn and take on new areas of research and drug discovery
  • Highly organized and goal-oriented
Preferred Skills:
  • Hands-on experience in the development/characterization of in vitro or in vivo CNS disease models
  • Background/expertise with models of epilepsy or neurodevelopmental disorders
  • Expertise with cultures of primary human or rodent neurons and/or iPSC-derived cells
  • Experience contributing to drug discovery programs, particularly in neuroscience, including novel target identification, target validation, and PK/PD studies
