Job OverviewPosition Summary:

Infra-Rec is looking for a proficient and meticulous Electrical Estimator specializing in Transmission & Distribution (T&D) and Substation projects. The ideal candidate will be tasked with generating precise and competitive cost estimates for T&D and substation construction initiatives, collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and clients. This position demands a comprehensive understanding of electrical construction, T&D systems, and substation projects, coupled with exceptional analytical and communication capabilities.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Cost Estimation: Create comprehensive and precise cost estimates for T&D and substation projects, encompassing labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.
  • Project Scope Analysis: Review project plans, specifications, and requirements to define the scope of work, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Bid Management: Collaborate with project managers and procurement teams to prepare and submit competitive bids, ensuring alignment with company goals and client expectations.
  • Supplier & Subcontractor Engagement: Solicit and assess quotes from vendors and subcontractors, ensuring competitive pricing and adherence to project specifications.
  • Cost Evaluation: Perform in-depth cost analysis and value engineering to enhance project costs while upholding quality and performance standards.
  • Risk Evaluation: Recognize potential risks and challenges linked to project estimates and suggest mitigation strategies.
  • Client Interaction: Work with clients and internal teams to clarify project requirements, address inquiries, and provide technical support during the pre-construction phase.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and current records of estimates, assumptions, and supporting documentation. Ensure all estimates are well-documented and readily accessible for future reference.
  • Ongoing Development: Stay informed on industry trends, market conditions, and advancements in T&D and substation technologies to enhance the accuracy and competitiveness of estimates.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as an estimator in the electrical construction sector, focusing on T&D and substation projects.
  • Strong understanding of high-voltage T&D systems, substation construction, and relevant industry standards and codes.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Accubid, McCormick) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to collaborate effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates concurrently and meet stringent deadlines.
