Head of Mapping

The Head of Mapping will be responsible for guiding the team to develop innovative mapping solutions, enhance navigation and routing technology, and create a seamless experience for drivers and riders. This leader will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive product vision and strategy, manage engineering roadmaps, and foster a culture of excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a clear product vision and strategy that drives business outcomes and contributes to a differentiated customer experience.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and competitive landscapes to inform strategies and roadmaps.
- Translate customer, business, and internal user needs into clear strategies backed by data analysis and technical expertise.
- Manage and develop a high-performing team of engineers and product managers, providing development, mentorship, and coaching to help them achieve their goals.
- Drive close collaboration with data scientists and product teams to deliver engineering excellence.
- Serve as a strategic partner to Lyft leadership to drive company-wide workstreams and influence executive priorities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 14+ years of experience in software engineering, product management, or technical leadership, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to build collaboratively working relationships with teams, stakeholders, and executives.
- Strong judgment and thoughtfulness about the dynamics of an ever-evolving landscape, with a focus on ensuring a delightful customer experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing and growing a high-performing team of engineers, while providing development, mentorship, and excitement to exceed team and department goals.
- Technical background and ability to contribute to planning and design discussions.
- Customer-focused mindset, with a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences for drivers, riders, partners, and Lyft employees.
- Forward-thinking, analytical, and problem-solving mindset, with a passion for building off ambiguous and unsolved problems.

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco Bay Area is $260,000 - $325,000, plus potential equity offering, bonus, or benefits.
