Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Equipment Programmer Assistant to join our team at PDM. As an Equipment Programmer Assistant, you will play a critical role in preparing nested cut cards and other documentation to convert raw shape steel into semi-finished parts for fabrication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Learn to read, understand, and verify information on cut cards, including type, size, weight, cut length, lot number, and sequence number.
  • Understand the operation of various machines, including feed rates and three-dimensional models for programming to obtain required productivity.
  • Program and nest incoming files for fabrication machines, including an Angle Master, Plasma/Punch Plate Machine, fully automated Drill and Saw line, and Plasma Tube Cutter.

Areas of Accountability
  • Learn, understand, interpret, and edit G-code & M-code programming.
  • Learn to read and prepare designs for nesting.
  • Learn to read and interpret parts drawings, cut lists, and written instructions to perform daily tasks.
  • Learn to interact with Tekla EPM fabrication management software.
  • Mark/tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.

  • Good communication skills and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Ability to do paperwork and computer input, access, and retrieval.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to think independently and provide self-direction, solve various problems, and make informed rational decisions.
  • Ability to work in an environment that often has a fast pace, high expectations, and frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and interpret data.
  • Software to be trained on: Raptor, Steel Solutions, Bend Tech, Tekla EPM, SDS/2, Bluebeam.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidate should be in an engineering or technical program.
  • Candidate should be looking for a job in a manufacturing field.
  • Flexible hours are available to work around student schedules.
