About the Role

The Director of Nursing Excellence and Magnet Program Development is a key leadership position at ECU Health Medical Center, responsible for cultivating and sustaining a professional practice environment that embodies the principles of Magnet designation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Magnet Designation Efforts: Develop and implement strategies to achieve and maintain Magnet designation, ensuring a culture of excellence in nursing practice.
  • Shared Decision-Making Model: Assess, implement, and lead structures and processes for effective shared decision-making, supporting exemplary professional practice and quality care.
  • Magnet Application and Site Visit Preparation: Oversee the Magnet application submission, lead processes for writing the Magnet document, and prepare for site visits.
  • Nurse-Sensitive Indicator Data and Quality Outcomes: Evaluate and disseminate data on nurse-sensitive indicators, organizational quality outcomes, and nurse satisfaction and engagement.
  • Education and Mentorship: Provide education and mentorship to leaders and the nursing team on Magnet principles and processes.
  • Specialty Certification and Recognition Programs: Administer specialty certification programs and contracts, and oversee DAISY and other recognition programs.
  • Journey to Magnet Excellence and Re-Designation: Assess, implement, and develop structures and processes for successful Journey to Magnet Excellence and re-designation activities.
  • Budgeting and Partnerships: Responsible for budgeting dollars for external consultants and internal Magnet re-designation partnerships.
  • Culture of Excellence: Develop, disseminate, educate, and mentor nurses at all levels on the sources of evidence and Magnet Model Components.
  • Professional Relationships: Build strong professional relationships with other nursing communities and professional organizations, as well as external consultants.
  • Publication and Presentation: Actively participate in publication and presentation at the local, state, and national level on behalf of ECU Health.
Requirements
  • Education: MSN required; Doctorate in Nursing (PhD or DNP) preferred.
  • Licensure: Active unencumbered NC RN License required.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience working in a Magnet program or equivalent, with 3-5 years of relevant progressive leadership experience.
